In my peer leadership class this year, we went out of our way to search for local community service organizations and see how we can help as a group. This year, I chose Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod. Habitat for Humanity works with families who are in need of an affordable home and helps build them a new house. They have currently made over 150 homes across the Cape, while keeping mortgages affordable to pay off. They are non-profit and rely on volunteers and donations to have no one homeless on the cape. In December alone, they built 7 houses.
As everyone knows, COVID-19 has affected everyone, even Habitat for Humanity. Without being able to get volunteers because of health protocols, they have been relying on their few workers to help build houses. Having gotten multiple houses built this holiday season and with a plan for 2021, I didn’t get to help out volunteering, but I put in a small 10-dollar donation. For more information, check out the Habitat for Humanity website.

Nice job, Joey, that you contribute when and how you can to a fine organization. You’ve got a big Gonnella heart!
